Outlook Express .dbx Files
Outlook Express is an e-mail/news client that was included in versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 98 to Windows Vista (it has been renamed Windows Mail in Vista). Outlook Express is a valuable tool for both business users and the home user as it is an easy to use email application where you can receive and store all your mail.
Occasionally people experience problems with Outlook Express, sometimes messages can not be opened and in other instances the messages can not be deleted. The reason behind these problems can often come back to corrupted or damaged .dbx files. A .dbx file is the extension for the data files for the Microsoft email client Outlook Express. All files in Outlook Express Folder list are stored on our hard drive with the same file name but with the extension of .dbx (eg inbox.dbx).
Symptoms of corrupted or damaged .dbx files include;
- Outlook Express feels sluggish when starting and while switching folders.
- Simple tasks like marking a message as read might take several seconds.
- Inbox may not display incoming mails.
- Certain folders might be working improperly.
Quite often your Outlook Express feels 'sluggish' because you have built up a massive list of temporary .dbx files and they are taking up way too much room on your hardrive. You need to clean up your Outlook Express as well as your computers registry before your emails will start working efficiently again.
